Overview
Ama Health runs fourteen outpatient clinics. Each one booked patients differently: paper diaries, WhatsApp, a desktop app from 2011. We designed and built a single platform for scheduling, records and reminders, used daily by 300 staff.

Fourteen clinics, fourteen ways of doing things.
Patients turned up for appointments that had been booked twice or not at all. Doctors moved between clinics without access to the notes from the last visit. Nearly one in four appointments was missed.
We spent our first two weeks inside the clinics, sitting at reception desks and shadowing nurses, before drawing a single screen.
Interface
Designed for the front desk, not the boardroom
Receptionists handle a phone call, a walk-in and a queue at the same time. Every common action is reachable from the keyboard in two steps or fewer.
Offline first, because the power will go out.
Several clinics lose connectivity daily. The web app caches the day's schedule locally and queues changes, syncing when the network returns. Staff simply keep working.
SMS and WhatsApp reminders go out 48 and 3 hours before every appointment, in the patient's preferred language. That single feature cut missed appointments by 41 percent.
